About Us

Our Vision

our vision for bookkeeping services

I served as an HM3 — a Navy Hospital Corpsman. If you know anything about Corpsmen, you know we're the ones who get embedded with Marines, and to a Marine, you're not "Petty Officer" or even "Corpsman." You're Doc. It's not a rank. It's a role, and it's earned trust — the guy who checks you before the mission, patches you up when things go wrong, and tells you the truth about your condition even when you don't want to hear it.

I didn't leave that instinct behind when I left the service. I just changed what I'm diagnosing.

The Anecdote

There's a specific moment that sticks with me from those days: doing sick call on a Marine who'd been pushing through pain for weeks because he didn't want to be the guy who "couldn't hack it." By the time he finally sat down in front of me, what could've been a two-day fix had turned into something that sidelined him for a month. He didn't have a symptom problem — he had a waiting problem. Nothing about his situation was unusual. It's what happens anytime someone avoids a checkup because they're afraid of what they'll hear.

I see that exact same pattern now, except instead of a Marine limping into sick call, it's a small business owner sliding a shoebox of receipts across my desk in April, or a veteran-turned-entrepreneur who hasn't looked at their P&L since June because they're afraid of what it'll say. The wound isn't physical anymore, but the avoidance is identical — and so is the damage it does if it goes untreated long enough. A business with unreconciled books and no tax plan is running the financial version of a Marine "pushing through it" — and by the time they finally come in, what should've been a quick fix has become a crisis.

Why "Doc" Still Fits

A Corpsman's job was never just triage. It was prevention — check-ups, vaccinations, teaching Marines to take care of themselves before they ended up on my table. That's exactly the model I run at Midgard Ledgers. I'm not just here for the once-a-year tax emergency. I'm here for the monthly checkup: the reconciliation, the "how's the business feeling" conversation, the early flag on a problem before it becomes a crisis. Financial health and personal health aren't as different as people think — both get dangerous when you ignore the symptoms, and both are far cheaper to treat early than late.

That's the promise behind calling myself your Accounting Doc. Veterans get it instantly, because they've lived it. And for everyone else, it still means the same thing it always has: someone who shows up, tells you the truth about your condition, and doesn't let you walk around wounded when it's fixable.

Grounding It in Green Cove Springs

I built this practice from Green Cove Springs, and that matters to me — this isn't a national call-center firm parachuting into your business. It's local, it's personal, and it's run by someone who still thinks like a Corpsman: check on your people regularly, catch problems early, and never let pride keep someone from getting help they need. Veterans are my driving force because I know that world, but the same doctrine applies to every client who walks through the door — business owner, veteran or not, everyone deserves a Doc who's actually paying attention.
